Sheerframe windows, installed by Lockerbie company BLW, feature in the award winning properties at Copthorn Homes' Beaulieu Park development in Chelmsford, Essex.
The development, which features Sheerframe traditionally sliding sash windows in American colonial style designs and American Shaker-inspired colours, was joint winner of the prestigious Silver Award for Best Exterior Design at the recent What House? Awards ceremony at the Grosvenor Hotel in Park Lane. Together with its parent company Countryside Properties Plc, Copthorn Homes also scooped the ultimate accolade of House Builder of the Year Award for 2001.
Commenting on the award, Copthorn Marketing Director Neil Armstrong said: 'We have received many industry awards in the past but this is the first time we have entered the external design category at What House?. Our success is an indication that new homes need not be boring or predictable in their external appearance'.
The Sheerframe white PVC fully welded sash windows were made and installed by Lockerbie based BLW who also used Sheerframe profile to create the glazed walkways which lead from the main Living area to self-contained studios above garages for some of the larger houses on the prestigious development.
Windows are set off by the strong shades of wild bayberry, soldier blue and New England red weatherboarding and rich cream renders, and decorative brickwork - all features of the homes on Beaulieu Park.
Sheerframe windows are extensively used by housebuilders across the UK. All Sheerframe styles, including the vertically sliding sash, comply with the new thermal performance requirements under Part L of the new Building Regulations.
